Christmas family skiing and snowboarding - Winter Sports Forum
Looking to book 7 nights over Christmas We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children 9 and 11 I am looking for a family friendly resort suitable for beginners ski and snowboard. Very Family friendly, holiday lights, skiing, snowboarding, fireworks, wagon rides, Santa, NYE celebrations, family activities, hotels and condo accommodation, Restaurants and shopping. You didn't mention in your post but, I'm assuming by your post history you're from the UK and considering Europe? If so, at that time of year you want to pick at high resort such as Val Thorens. However, lower down the mountain in Meribel and Courcheval is prettier. Almost anywhere you pick in Eurpoe will have plenty of activities for kids over the Christmas holidays.
Our comprehensive annual guide Where to Ski and Snowboard is no longer published. The edition was the last — and it is now out of print. But all is not lost: in late October we published an all-new book, Where to Ski in Austria , and this has now been followed, in late November , by Where to Ski in France. In due course Italy, Switzerland etc will follow. You can order Where to Ski in Austria and Where to Ski in France directly from us at a substantial discount from our shiny new online store , built to accommodate multiple titles as they are published. The new books are based on the same foundations of thorough research, impartial evaluation, warts-and-all text and reader-friendly layout, with lots of photos carefully chosen to convey the character of the resorts. But they are all-new, written from scratch with a new and improved structure.
However, it is also the best time to take advantage of the quiet slopes, as they are less crowded and you can often get great deals on action-packed trips. Austria is a fantastic location to consider for your September skiing trip. The Hintertux and Molltal glaciers in Austria are already open for the ski season. However, the Dachstein, Kaunertal, Kitzsteinhorn, Pitztal, Stubai and Solden glaciers are also due to open in September and by the end of the month, almost half the open areas in the northern hemisphere will be in Austria. Zermatt and Saas Fee are currently open in Switzerland. Not only is Zermatt the highest ski resort in Europe, it is also open days a year for the public to enjoy. Passo Stelvio is currently open and Val Senales is due to open at the end of September for its long season that ends in May.
