Popular Hades and Persephone Books

Believe it or not, some of my favorite kinds of books are the ones that pull from stories I already know. Whether it's adapted fairy tales, re-written classic literature, updated fables, or modern Greek mythology retellings , I'm a sucker for re-reading tales I've already been told in new and exciting ways. Ever since I started studying Greek mythology in grade school, I've been fascinated by the world of Mount Olympus and beyond. The idea of all-powerful gods and goddesses who were in charge of specific parts of the world enthralled me, the prospect of magical powers and fantastic beasts thrilled me, and the promise of immortality and ultimate power enticed me. Like other retellings and reinterpretations, books that use Greek myths as their inspiration take an old and familiar story and update to be something new, excited, and never before seen. Why bother rewriting something that has already been written, you may ask? Because in recreating a familiar tale, you uncover unexpected details that can change the story entirely.

Hades and Persephone - The Story Of The Seasons (Greek Mythology Explained)

I kind of hate Greek mythology.

My name is Emilie but you might know me better as June Leeloo. Two years ago I funded my first book here on Kickstarter, Serendipity , and it was unbelievable! Je m'appelle Emilie mais vous me connaissez sans doute mieux sous le nom de plume de June Leeloo. The Greek ones in particular! So last October, for Inktober, I decided to go through the story of Hades and Persephone, changing a bit the storyline…. What if she was trying to escape an over-protective mother? What if she just wanted to live her life?

You can also see them in shows, movies, plays, etc. Romantic tropes are everywhere, and they are fabulous. I adore them and I always tend to find my favorite ones in romance books so I can enjoy them more. I decided to do a sort of Trope Tuesday piece where I will be talking about many tropes and recommend you all some of my favorites that fit. What is a trope?

In the year I worked on Persephone, so did several other completely unconnected authors.
