Actually, many books are cited in "The Perks of being a Wallflower" , but "The Stranger" is the book that intrigued more the protagonist and me. Meursault is a modest employee of French extraction who lives in Algiers. He lives his daily routine with indifference, unable to openly manifest even the simplest emotions.

The Stranger

Raymond, an unsavoury friend, is eventually arrested for assaulting his mistress and asks Meursault to vouch for him to the police. Meursault agrees without emotion. Raymond soon encounters a group of men, including the brother of his mistress. This murder is what separates the two parts of the story. Eventually, Meursault is found guilty of murder with malice aforethought and is sentenced to death by guillotine.

The public has come to know of him as a murderer, which, in the event, he did murder an Arab. Society does not understand his existentialistic beliefs. His existentialistic beliefs lead him to believed his life has no meaning. Meursault is different from society mentally and emotionally, and society does not even see him as a living being in the ways he shows his emotionless features. Meursault never mourned for his mother at her funeral and refused to see her body in the casket. Meursault shows no emotions due to the fact that he does not have any meaning in life. He does not feel like his life makes a tremendous difference in the world, along with the Arab he killed.
